How do you take the rectangular AIRBAG plastic off on the c pillar. I got the surrounding clips off the whole cover, but it seems that rectangular plastic piece is keeping it down. Do I just try to pry it off more? I don't want to scratch it any further.

I managed to clean the diversity amplifier contact points as well as on the base as well. However, although my FM reception is okay, I still get intermittent range issues when setting the alarm on/off. It varies between 5FT to about 30FT. When I first got the car, I remember being able to toggle the alarm from across the street. Is it the rechargable battery in the key fob? Both keys I have have the same range issue.

Many thanks and credit goes to ICC014 and Blinkme_210 for the post and how to remove the diversity amplifier. The range of my FOB was about a foot to open and close my E60 (2009 528i). I have a bit of electronics experience therefore I wanted to remove and take a look at this piece the stealer wants an arm and a leg for, after examining the piece I decided to clean the clips with electronic parts cleaner and carefully brushed of the contacts/clips with a tooth brush and the cleaning solution. Put it back together walked approx 100 feet and pushed the buttons open/close and presto my car winked at me with the audio confirmation. Save yourselves a bundle before you go out and donate your hard earned money to the stealer. Cheers.

Wicked... I'm going to have a go an try to clean the contacts on the units first aswell... Rang the stealers an they wanted close to £300...!!!. So well worth a clean... Lol..

Anyone got any pictures of which parts I should be cleaning..?!. An if that doesn't work does anyone know where the cheapest place is to buy these units...?!.

Cheers

Wow! What a huge difference!! My car is production date 11/05 and I replaced the diversity amplifier with a used one from an 08' 528i. Now I can toggle the alarm with no problem from at least 75ft away! In my case, cleaning the contacts was not enough but it's a good "free" troubleshooting method.

When you remove it, just clean the metal "fingers" you see with a q-tip and alcohol. Also clean where the fingers will contact the base. You'll see what I mean when you have it out.

I have the same issue on an 06 with comfort access.

My distance got so bad I had to press the keyfob up to the rear window to lock/unlock.

My amp is 6520 6931719-06 according to post in this thread I have a first revision of the part, 2 new revisions.

I tried cleaning the contacts only got about 10 inches better.

Today I cleaned the back window with acetone nail polish remover and a bit of paint thinner and lots of wiping and that helped! I can now open with comfort access again it's flaky but it works 75% of the I time, and I can open with the remote at about 5 feet away a huge improvement!!

So wax must have build up on the window. I am wondering if I should still get a new diversity amp. to increase the distance and the comfort access reliability as i hate not having this work 25% of the time now.

I'm looking for one can't find one at a low price.

My connection at stealer said $280 using his discount.

bmwfans.info shows it can retail for $160, but I can't find a part's place that sells the latest revision at that price. Used would be great too...no hits came up on ebay.

I believe that's the part number I got. I got a used one from ebay for half that price in a make an offer deal. However, I took the risk of possibly getting a "low range" one just like my old one. I got lucky and the one I got had great range.
