I bought a cable which looks like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-U...item336b8febbf

I can get it to work with INPA, however, I can't get it to work with DIS v57 with the Diagnostic Head Emulator v1.2. Is it the cable or is there something wrong with my configuration.

The emulator seems to start, but keeps showing "Disconnected".

What should I watch out for?

Thanks in advanced. Your input is much appreciated.

Do you still need assistance with this? If so post up and then PM me so I get the msg then I'll probably reply here to build a repository in case someone else has that issue.

Yes still I still have the issue. When I bought the cable, it came with a DVD bundle with NCS Expert, DIS, etc. It also includes the install instructions. Once I get to my computer, I can send you the PDF instructions if you want. That way you can see if there are errors in the instructions and such.

Also, Thanks! I appreciate it!

from what you pasted and what you said, it isn't the cable since you are working with INPA.
you are starting your emulator and what is defined there network-wise is correct.
You will only get "connected" status once you go into DIS and click Administration and then Connection Setup and you will see your "free diagnostic head" click on connecting and you should see it connect. If it does not then perhaps your IFH-Service or Ediabas Server is not running or you have a problem in your Ediabas.ini file. But since INPA is working I would assume that your Ediabas.ini file is fine. But anyway, i sent you email, send me what instructions you have and I'll overlook them to see if they're on the money.

Also, I would change your computer name IL-003412 isn't a very friendly name when using BMW tools specifically SSS. Make it 8 characters or less and no numbers. Just a tip.

Holly crap I messed with it again and was able to connect! Thank YOU! However, when I try to select 5series\E60\E61, it doesn't find which car I have automatically. I have to do it manually. Is that expected? Also, I get the "Diagnosis bus error" , "communication between operating unit and diagnostic head is impaired. Error number 200.166"

Basically I want to be able to read faults and disable and re-enable (re-initialize) the airbag sensors and seat occupancy matt.

You said you had it all worked out. I assume you went into Administration and connected the free DK head right?
