, it`s a real pain to get it off the metal bit it clips to, it`s as bad as trying to put the glove box back.

First post in the forum.
I am having major DVD read problems with my SatNav Pro version ( 525d Oct 2007) screen display reverting to "Please insert DVD" or "Read error" . Having searched the internet for hours, I have come to the conclusion that the Laser unit requires changing in the DVD drive. I have instructions on how to strip the unit and replace the laser, and sourced a replacement laser for £25. Other options start at around £150 and work upwards.
I have attached to this thread, as I cannot discover how to remove the CD/DVD unit.
rogb520 shows how to remove all the dash etc. with superb detailed description, but my question is :
" Do I need to remove all the trim etc. or is there a more direct route, just to remove the CD DVD Nav unit"
As can be seen from photo it is LHD.
