Ok thanks for your help. Based on some of the other responses for this job I better have some beer available for my friends who do not want to help.

I just had these things done at the dealer. Here is a small price list and charge. Hydrobearing - $50.00, Full Left Tension Strut - $244.00. My local dealership 3.2Hrs of work total $432.00 dollars. These items are not cheap at a dealership, luckly my 3rd party insurance took care of it. Ride is smoother now and I love it.

About to attempt replacing tension arms myself - I was wondering if this ball joint tool on amazon can be used on E60 for the job?

Has to be E60 specific. Use a metal mallet and use the jack method above. its a tight fit. my friend brought his e39 one but would fit lol. If your replacing arms anyway just hit hit! lol

My dealer says I need to replace my front tension strut bushings. That is all it says. Does that mean the upper or lower control arms? They will not call me back or respond to my email.

I guess if I replace the control arms, they will come with the bushing preinstalled and we will not need to press them. Right?
