Anybody know how to disassemble the cigarette tray? The spring behind it seen to pop off the track because there is no resistance when I push or pull on the cigarette tray now. When I push it it wouldn't pop out like it normally does. I have to pull it out or push it in manually.

I think there is an insert that pops out of the ashtray (the ashtray itself) and the fastening or retaining screws are under it...

Mine had to be replaced by the dealer a while ago. I'm not entirely certain, but I think it was rather involved and required removing some of the trim.

Ooops!! I'm very sorry; I pasted the wrong link

Try this one.

I was busy doing the other DIY yesterday and didn't bother to check the preview.

Thanks for the help, my cigarette tray is in the front beneath the radio not on the center arm rest. I guess I'll just leave it alone....Too much work if I have to take the whole front trim off..

If you're here it's because you have an E60 and all E60 have the cigarette try in the same place. Did you see the DIY he did? It's showing exactly what you wanted to see.

The posted link shows the cigarette tray in a different location. Mine, like the OP's, is under the CD player. It is a little drawer that (used to) slide out when pushed.

Now it is lifeless and does not respond to my pushing-gentle or vigorous.

Unfortunately, this is where I store my house keys. I had a few minutes of panic before I realized I could pry it open with a credit card.

Would still like to figure out how to fix it.

Anyone?
