Gents,

After washing my car this weekend, I noticed I had a little, itsy, bitsy chip in one of my doors (it's not from a door ding thank god. It must have come from a pebble on the road). Although it's tiny and barely noticeable, I want to fix it. A few questions...

1. I have the old touch up paint from my '03 E39 530i that also happened to be Jet Black. Thoughts on using the same paint since both cars were/are Jet Black? I don't believe BMW has touch up paint avail in the US for the E60's, but I could be wrong...

2. What do you suggest is the best method for filling the chip?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

On another thread. One guy spoke highly of this product. I never used it. I guess you could give it a try and let us all know how well it works. Always nice to get a second opinion.

That was me speaking highly of the product. I used it on my Monaco Blue color. It produced a flawless result.

They match your color perfectly, and the stuff works a lot better than touch up paint because you end up wiping off all of the excess paint. It worked on a big scratch that was on my trunk that went down to the white paint level. It did not work on small scratches. I have a feeling that it will work great on chips. I hope you use the stuff and report back.

If you can, do a search for my posts and you will find the thread.

Good stuff.

I used this product, it might work with scratches, but i had chips and i couldn get to wipe off the paint evenly in the chips, even after multiple tries, so for chips this might work, but to wipe paint off the big chips is hard...but product itself matches with color good and the solution is great.

I actually have the touch up paint and touch up clear coat from my 2003 E39. Since I had Jet Black with that car, I am using this instead. I decided it was best to stay with the exact BMW color match and not mess with anything else. The only hassle is the nail polish type brush. Removing all the excess paint on the brush before applying and making sure it's neat and clean, is the hard part. Occasionally, I'll use a Q tip end (removing the swab part of course) to get those tiny little nicks.
