I need to change the front right wheel bearing on my 04 545 (58k miles). Car has the Sport package with active steering and suspension. Anyone ever done this on one of these? In looking at the BMW manual, they want you to basically disassemble the entire front suspension. I can't really be that hard?

Thanks ,
Doug

i haven't done it but looking at the picture for the e60, it looks to me that you just have to take off the wheel, the brakes/rotors, and the wheel hub which has the bearing on in it.

how do you know you have a bad wheel bearing? did you have a warped or off balance wheel that caused the wheel bearing to go bad?

There was a bent rim on that corner when I bought it. I had it repaired as soon as I got it home. I get a repetitive noise from the right front corner that gets worse when I turn left (so the weight is on the right front tire). The tires only have about 5k miles on them. Might be a bad tire, I'm going to try and swap the fronts to see if the sound moves. If I'm turning right (so the car's weight is on the left front wheel), there's no sound at all. In the past on other vehicles I've had, this is almost always a wheel bearing.
