great write up i will be following this as well on my 525. I too dont like the 15,000 mile interval change and according to paper work frmo the dealer my oil was last changed in July 07 and when i start the car it flashes 6000 MLS and goes away, i assume this means i have 6000 more miles to go till my next oil change?

I would like to just change the oil on my own and not reset the oil change in iDrive and then take the car in and let the dealer do it under the maintenance plan.

I assume that the the computer will not detect the new oil and lengthen the milage in iDrive for the next oil change?

Good writeup, MP.

I changed mine at 7500 miles and iDrive showed 8000 miles remaining. Within 50-75 miles, iDrive showed 9000 remaining. So apparently it does "see" the fresher oil and make an adjustment. Kinda interesting, because most other manufacturers that use a flexible service arrangement don't really look at the oil itself but rather how the car is driven.

Those pictures of your gloves remind me of a recent visit I had to the doctor. Just kidding!

Great DIY! Thanks for sharing.

You forgot to mention the neatly organized tools. Evidently MiamiPhill's medical skills filter in to daily life.

I hope you didn't wear a mask.

Nice writeup, BTW.

Nice video Nick! I like the disclaimers.

Was that your kid/supervisor I heard doing color commentary in the background?

Yeah..its about 100MB...that is about as small as I can get it for now.. working on a smaller 'trailer' version. Thus also why I had to post it to my own site.
