brake sensors

i had all 4 of my e60 2005 530i brakes replaced 3 months ago in July 2009 (3 months ago). my car only has 40,330 miles on it and just today as i was driving, the brake light as well as therear brake pad lights went on. so now it appears as tho my vehicle needs servicing but upon inspection of my car, all 8 brake pads look brand new and have plenty of pad life still left. so i tried to tackle each indicator light separately. first, i checked the master cylinder reservoir and it is not low on fluid. what else could be causing my brake light on the dashboard? then i took off the left front and rear right tires to see if the brake sensor is intact and both of them are. i tried several times to reset the warning lights on the idrive by using the reset button on the instrument panel but now my front pads appear to have -9000 and my rear pads have -16000 miles on them. what should i do to reset my warning lights? i thought that if the front and rear sensors were still intact that i would be able to reset the service lights. are the service warnings on the idrive causing the "brake" indicator light on the dash to light up? or are these 2 separate issues? thanks in advance for your help.

Some people have to have a few goes to get the correct mileage to reset on the Brakes - I was lucky and it worked first time!
Your iDrive should have told you if it's the front or the rears that are the problem. Disconnect the sensor wire to do a proper reset, then reconnect to see if the problem recurs, if so, replace just that sensor.
