hi everyone,

I recently purchased BMW Air filter (sports option). What i dont understand is how to install it. I have that big flat filter box..
As you see in pic one - that's how it should look like when istalled, but I took few pics of my filter (sorry for quality it's iphone...) and there is one "thingy" (in red circle) which wont let me fit this filter straight on. Any ideas?
cheers

the little thingy is your mass air flow meter - don't damage it as it costs $$$

Hi everyone,

Quick question - if I fit this Air Filter - will it be very "juicy" for me? (i mean will it eat much more petrol than at present)?

You know your car likley has less power with that filter exposed to the high temp under the hood.

Phill, thank's for reply. Very strange- as guy's in BMW, Germany say this filter will increase my BHP and will save some fuel. But local car service say this filter will increase fuel consumption (but give me some boos as well). And now we have option of less power.....i'm completely confused

Phil:

I was in the same situation a yr ago and let me see if I can be of assistance. The issue with air intake is not just volume of air but also temperature of ambient air. Most CAIs thus have a signifcant positioning advantage and suck in air from an external source, not ambient engine air. With the install the way you and I were both going to do it, the conclusion of Classic BMW here was less HP and more fuel consuption.

Just FYI..
