Post

Well, it started by a post that stated that he just removed the screws from the plate and pulled out the wiring to expose the resistor bulge heretofore referred to as the "CHIP".

So I said, "LET'S DO THIS"!.

I pulled out the wire after unscrewing the plate, but I realized that it wasn't enuff room to do the splice afterwards.

I then TRIED to remove the glovebox, but figured if I just tugged a little more I would be able to do this.

I reassembled the glovebox and tried to pull the cable a little more. DIDNT work.

I disassembled the glovebox AGAIN...good for practice...to get more wire. The wire was strung along the support and the M-ASK!!! DUH!!! Guess he wanted to make sure it was in place.

I then rerouted the wire down the bracket to get more length.

Then came the splicing..........cut my finger a bit. The toughest part was finding the start of the wrap. I then had to CAREFULLY scrape the rest away being careful not to skin the wires.

BY the way I found out for sure that my baby is CD Prepped, making iot cheaper to get the iPOD adapter done in the future.

I then HARDCORE spliced the wires with a box cutter......no crimpers handy.......... and since I've done this alot in the past, It was cool.

Then after scraping, there was the infamous "CHIP". YUP a chip. I thought there would be a big bundle, but it was pretty small.

AFter prewiring and checking everything was good, I wrapped with electrical tape, didn't want to solder it. I loosely wrpped the tape splice, but tightly wrapped the top and bottom of the splice wrap.

That was it. The comparison to the CD still seemed different, NOT as clear, but the level and BASS. OHH YEHHH!! Alot better than the ithing from Griffin I decided to buy, mainly because of the charger intergration.

I'm happy now, and look forward to possibly doing the iPOD adapter myself since I'm wired already.
BTW.....I didn't know how to do the caption then picture thing, So I did the best I could.

Until then. FOGLIGHTS next baby!!!!

Peace.

Congratulations! Although I seemed to miss what you gained in the process. Also please omit the last photo. It's totally useless as it is blurry, unless it's for those who want a picture of your crotch!!!!

No thanks!

That's a lot of work...I'm glad it worked

I was lucky enough to only pull on the wire after unscrewing the plate. I had enough slack to work with.

Nice job! Now the mod bug have hitted you!! You're gonna keep wanting to do stuff to that car. When I did mine, I removed the glove box and the cover, I would say that this is probably one of the easiest DIY!! Congrats!!

Anyone know how to do this for the 07 models where the AUX is behind the center console?

Bing,
Comes to NorCal Greet and Meet and I'll do it for you just for a lunch

1. Remove airvent
2. Use two steak knife and insert 1/2 way down on both side of rear wood trim to remove wood trim.
3. The cap/resistor is nearby the AUX connector

I wish I could go to the NorCal Meet but my boss (GF) won't let me...Are you going to come down for the Socal meet on April 7? Also how do I take off the air vents?

Pry the black cover out first, then airvent.
