just installed aux input and getting it coded on monday. my systems bass is real low now and the overall sound quality is down, but im thinking the coding will change it back to normal. has any noticed this before coding.

to install i had to take out one black plug and replace it with the audio input plug.

fixed low bass problem. i shouldnt have taken the original black plug out and replaced it with the audio input plug. you just simply take the 3 audio input wires out of the plug that came with it in the box, and place them into the plug already connected in the back of the radio(ccc, mask)the appropiate holes are open.

How is it that u were able to get sound without being able to select Aux as a source in Idrive?

Did you figure out the problem before taking to dealer?

Did you take pics as u went? I know many would be interested in your DIY process including the acquisition of the kit.

My dealer stocks the aux input--$64 after 10% BMWCCA discount.

Ah, now that makes sense. Thanks for clarification. But it is also a clue for those that do have the bass lacking symptom after a Aux retrofit.

Peter Pan in San Mateo, CA.

If you're not local, it might be worthwhile to check the BMW of Newport 25% discount offer sticky in the parts subforum.

finally got aux input coded and everything works fine. also found out from reading another post in here and installing myself that the older model 5s use the same aux input as ours, three wires, i think it was in singhss post on aux in. this piece only cost 39 dollars http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=12906&hl=
not much discount but why pay more for the same piece.
it works wonderfully, with normal audio and navtv.
