Attempting transmission oil change on 545i any help? Dont know what fl
Hello everyone i have ben reading through a lot of threads on the trans fluid change and it seems pretty straight forward. The only problem is i have no idea what fluid to use. I have 2004 automatic 545i on the pan i found this " only use bmw oil #83220142516 .And these are what i believe is the transmission type "zf getriebe gmbh" i know there are a few different oils people have used But i just wanted to make sure which is the one for my transmission i have read that each zf tranny uses specific fluid so i am completely lost..
Any help is very much appreciated thanks

Hi, DIY trany fluid change is simple if you use the guideline on thectsc.com you would find the liter of trany fluid for discounted price and much more about servicing your own transmission.

I can't tell you substitutes/alternatives, but as far as I know, the original one is Shell M1375.4. You know you got the right one when you see it's price
Castrol claims they have fluid that meets the requirements of M1375.7: link here

My Ride: 05 545i
How many miles do you have? Just wondering cause I have 115,000 on my 05 545i and thought about doing this also. Ive worked at Honda for 5 years and I know that if the cars have a lot of miles and never had the fluid changed that you should leave it cause it can cause it to slip. I don't know if it's an issue on the bmws
