Someone pointed out that although I wasn't providing the NAV DVD itself I was providing files from them so they were still copyright protected material. So to be on the safe side I've removed the files so people will just have to do the modifications themselves now.

Sorry but I thought it best to err on the side of caution!

The one I used was pocketgps_uk_sc.asc and contains locations for GATSO, TRUVELO, MOBILE, REDLIGHT, SPECS and TEMP
That is all the cameras in a single file - the consolidated version has each category separate so different icons can be displayed by some GPS.

Mathmos: I have the 2005-2 eng.lsc file if you want it to complete the set. PM me.

Regards

David

I've updated the How To instructions to give a bit more detail on how to test and run perl in cygwin so hopefully this should clarify things for those people having problems at this stage.

Hope it helps!

Great work guys but what a hassle. Why cant BMW get in the real world and offer a simple cost effective solution like the after market suppliers rather than forum members having to find work arounds

We should have all the bells and whistles for the cost of an E60!

I'm no expert on the format of the .asc file however looking at the ones I have used, which are

a) locations of UK speed cameras
b) locations of all National Trust sites
c) locations of all English Heritage sites

the format is Longitude,Latitude,Name
and the numbers in the first column (Longitude) are all negative numbers eg.

-1.8828,52.2377,"Coughton Court"
-1.8686,52.0938,"The Fleece Inn"
-1.8389,52.2286,"Kinwarton Dovecote"
-1.7504,52.3454,"Packwood House"
-1.7372,52.0846,"Hidcote Manor Garden"
-1.7063,52.3453,"Baddesley Clinton"
-1.6195,52.2012,"Charlecote Park"

Errr... I don't think so.

Basic geography guys!!

West is negative. East is postive.

Maybe all your POIs are west of Greenwich...

Indeed. But you have made up for it by being good at BMW Nav.

Now THAT'S a skill.

I think.
