I'll have to check in the morning to see if it stays active or if I have to go to the menu and select it each time. I never saw anything on the map (but never encountered traffic) but if I go to the traffic info tab it listed all the traffic situations, as well as what road they were on and how many miles from me it was.

I also have satellite but I believe your right about it being on FM because the sources change when I drive to work.

It is most definitely FM based. AS an FYI... With HD radio the FM coax is directed to the HD module and it takes over the regular and HD station tuning. In order for RTTI to work, the FM signal must be split so that it also goes to the CCC unit.

Any explanation as to why yours was (presumably) factory enabled?

Never mind, looks like starting in late 2007 it was standard with nav.

Still wondering why we have been denied such a useful tool. I would understand if it was offered as an upgrade or "retrofit".

Wondering the same thing.

Glad it is working for people!

And as far as staying activated, I think it depends on reception. Sometimes mine takes a few miles before it shows up.

Probably also means you live in a semi-sane area. When I zoom out on my map I don't even see streets any more - just a blur/blob of road hazard, construction, traffic and accident warnings. When I use nav to even go a few miles it re-routes me multiple times because of how spontaneous the traffic reports come in.
