Can't really tell from the pictures but it doesn't look very "scoop" like... looks like the air will just hit that and cause some turbulence. 
I agree it does look close to stock...wouldn't take much to get it to work. Take off the air box, use a small fan and a small smoke bomb and try to adjust to get a clean flow into the box.
