545i Front bumper removal tips
The front bumper removal is pretty basic , remove a few screws and voila, push and pull away the sides off the fender, right...?
Well I needed to remove the bumper to replace my crash sensors and did that a few days ago.
My recommendations are :
1) to do it when temps are NOT below freezing.
2) try to get all the grit(sand and salt and whatever) out of the crack on each side.
If you still cannot un lodge the sides, remove the wheel well liner and un-attach the holding bracket with 2 10 mil screws and the bumper will come off easily.
I needed to do this on one side as the bumper due to 10 yrs of grit builtup in the joint prevented me from dislodging the bumper cover.
After cleaning out all the grit the Bumper went back on the car easily.
Next time I will make to do this job in the hot summer time for sure.
