Changed out my brush metal look for woodgrain on the 545i. Changed both the shift knob and steering wheel padels.

Thanks Icc014 for the PICS

Could you provide part numbers for the Wood inserts for the steering wheels please!
Where did you get them from and what was the cost?

I have been wanting to do this to my 545 with Dark Poplar Wood Trim for a while but cannot find the correct part.

Thanks

Bill P

I also would like to do this to a 2008 535i. Can anyone guide me in the right direction? Who sells these parts?

Where did you get the wood grain trim piece at? I've been looking for other options than just the aluminum trim.

For anyone looking to replace the DULL black trim panels on their NON-sport standard steering wheel with triangle shaped airbag (doesn't matter with or without steering wheel heater), this is a RIDICULOUSLY easy upgrade as long as you follow the nicely detailed instructions as first posted (especially the part about disconnceting the negative battery terminal first !). You can change them to beautiful "Ruthuim Silver", Light Poplar or Dark Poplar to match whatever interior trim you have in your E60 .

The BMW Part numbers are:

32306766012 Ruthium Silver (~$ 75.00)
32300406384 Light Poplar (~$250.00)
32300397915 Dark Poplar (~$250.00)

This morning I changed out my black trim panels (BMW calls them "decorative clips") to Dark Poplar trim to match my Dark Popular interior wood trim and recently upgraded Dark Popular wood/leather Steptronic gear shift selector (another ridiculously easy DIY upgrade). If the d(st)ealer installed these upgrades they would probably charge you 1 hour for the wheel trim upgrade and 1/2 hour for the gearshift upgrade or about $150 ~ 200 for both . Don't let them do it, do it yourself

Now I know this and other threads have been circulating on this subject for about 3-4 years now so I thought I would clarify once and for all how easy this upgrade is and to furnish everyone the correct part numbers for each of the 3 trim options to make it easy for you all in case you are looking for more ways to spend money and make your E60 the envy of your friends

Good luck

Why does yours look more glossy metallic than OP's? OP's looks more like matte silver. I love the way yours looks tho!

They're different color/trims. The OP got the regular silver, the one you see in the pic was the dark wood and they have the light wood.
