Has anyone done this upgrade with a 530i??? I just bought a set that I want to mount and wanted to do some research before executing my plan. So far, my reasearch shows that 530i carriers share same parts with 540/545. Also the 530i has the same master cylinder with the M5... That said, Ive seen very few threads showing 540/545 owners have done this upgrade, which would probably go the same way with the 530.
My main concern is the rear because someone has mentioned about the removal of metal brackets in the rear. I'm not a brake person, so I don't quite get which bracket they are talking about when I see the component diagram on realoem.
For those that have done this mod... Can you enlighten me and lead me to the light because the mechanic shop is a little hesitant on doing this because they have never done it before. I need your help, so that I can convey some assurance that it will work in the end.
Off topic... Which DOT approved stainless steel brake lines do u recommend for this upgrade?

btw- there's no such thing as a DOT-approved stainless line. DOT "compliant", yes, but not approved.

umm, $3k vs. a few hundred dollars for used M5 parts. Hmmm, let think about that for a second....
Guess you must have been lucky to get used M5 brakes for a few hundred dollars. I know others have searched and the prices are around $1500 and more. I certainly wouldn't sell my original set for a few hundred bucks unless you're not talking about a complete set.
In the end, it's all relative to what each person prefers though..

ROFLMAO... I bought an entire M5 brake set that supposedly had less than 5k on em from a very reputable company in the bay area. Now I have to get some dust plate and a set of SS brake lines.
What is this metal bracket problem everyone talks about on doing the mod for the rear brakes? I know the dust plate has to be removed or replaced as accordingly, but a little confused about some metal bracket.

Don't go cheap, you'll regret it. Save up and get big brake kit or just be ghetto like me and paint your calipers and rusted ass rotors.

Do you have to replace Calipers if you upgrade to the M5 rotor. I am guessing you do b/c of bigger rotor size.
Are there direct replacement rotors one can put on without having to replace calipers, etc? Anyone know if these would be less quality than stock BMW Rotors that came with car.
