I did a week of research before using the eraser on my car as I would go nuts if it did anything negative to it. I think the main problem with people is they used the other fancy erasers with the bathroom cleaners and all that in it. Just buy the standard original one.

I read a post from a guy on an E46 forum and that made me pull the plug. Your right, the eraser is very abrasive but it isnt going to damage your steering wheel unless your going at it for 1hour straight. I wish I had before and after pics like the E46 guy has. It took out an ugly belt stain on my seat and some shine on the steering wheel. Try it guys, you wont be disappointed!

What's the solution to dull and peeling steering wheels? The UV from the sun is eating my steering wheel! I should have put the sun shades up
Wheelskins. Get it to match your interior and you're golden.

I used one in my E39 before, which was dull and had peeling leather. Get some leather gloves when sewing the nylon. It'll help with the tightness and save your hands.

I tried the Magic Eraser on the wheel of my '98 Roadster. It looks like a simple block of foam rubber. Used wet, I was very pleased with the results. Properly used - with no heavy rubbing - removed lots of grime and left a smooth matte finish. I finished it off with Zymol leather conditioner applied by hand, permitted to soak in for a few minutes and buffed off with a clean towel.

The result is a nice matte black finish with no apparent harm to the leather finish.

Actually, I can pretty well ruin a steering wheel in about 5 minutes. No more dye.
I've seen people cut right through rubberized interior panels in an instant with these, they are, as FMINUS stated, light sandpaper.
Don't underestimate it, repeated use is a guaranteed dye failure.

Never use it dry, is it with the appropriate cleaners, eg leather cleaner, simple green for plastic, etc...

I'd only use it if I was desperate and was going to pay much better attention to that part of the car from then on...

Take better care of the surface and it will repel these stains and you'll never have to compromise the surfaces.

No kidding? I've got to try this. Thanks for the tip
Do some before and after pics too!

Just cleaned my steering wheel earlier this afternoon. Sorry no before pics,
but I'll try to post an after. It was at the point of getting shiny around the
top area.

As others previously mentioned, no hard rubbing with the pad, make sure
the magic eraser pad is wet. Lightly wipe the steering wheel. You'll see all
the grime come off of it. Finish with Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner
