Friends dog jumped up on my 535. Carbon Black. I can see the claw marks. Any one know how I can polish it up again? It's not a major scratch, but claws is claws. Dogs should be kept on leads. would appreciate any suggestions on how to get it shiny black again. It's on the drivers door panel just below the window.

We found some slight cat scratches on the hood, you could actual see and feel them. Didn't think they were gonna come out, but bmw polished it out for free!

I'll second the vote for Scratch-X -- wonderful stuff. Just don't get carried away -- rub it in a small amount at a time until the scratch disappears.

Don't use rubbing compound, it is too coarse and you will need to follow-up with a finer grit polish. Meguiar's should do it, but don't use too much pressure and keep checking to make sure you don't take off all the clearcoat. Also, try to feather the edges out with lighter polishing, otherwise you could end up with obvious streaks. Been there, done that.

Carcareonline.com has some awesome FAQs on car care. I have used P21S Multi Surface Finish Restorer with awesome results on my old 330i.
