Not necessarily... What is your technique like? Speeds, pressure etc?
I started on speed 3 and took it up to 6 with about 5-10lbs of pressure with the swirl x. With the ultra compound I only had it on 3 because it was so hard to take off.
thanks!

I did the clay, polish, and wax bit with Griot's garage products coupled with their orbital machine and my jet black car came out nothing short of a black mirror.
My paint was pretty bad. In the sunlight there were swirl marks galore.I probably got rid of 70%..I was shooting for a 100 but am satisfied w/ 70. My car is a 2005 lease which i bought less than a year ago and probably never had a proper detail.

You have to start somewhere! When you're ready.. you can always upgrade. Menzerna are good polishes to start with as others have stated. Maybe one day you could step up to a rotary!

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny. 2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter. Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.

Getting rid of 70% swirls is not bad. I don't think it is possible to get rid of 100%, but it may be possible to get rid of more swirls with staggered applications. I am sure your car looks great when it's nice and clean. Enjoy.
