what are yall talking about when you say to clay your car?

I clayed both my '05 e60 and my '05 e85. The cars felt much "smoother" afterwards as I didn't realize all the contaminants on the cars, but visually I can't tell a difference.

I typically wax the cars by hand and I can say that they're much easier to wax after claying since both the applicator and the microfiber towel slide right off the car now where before it took a little more elbow grease.
