Damn pump at the station was a bit faulty, leaking even before I started pumping. Got on the bodywork below the filler door.

I poured a bottle of water on it, and went home and dumped two large buckets of hot water on the area.

I could see a faint outline of where the gas was before I used the hot water, but not after using the first bucket. I used the second bucket for good measure. I can't really wash it today - should I be okay without using soap?

Just hit it with some Meguiar's Quik Detailer too. Jeez, I'm taking this too seriously huh?

Yeah, I need my head examined for even pumping my gas there - it had stickers on all the pumps dated -today- from the department in the state of Virginia that governs gas pumps saying that the pumps weren't in compliance. I should have just jumped back in the car and gone to the other Shell. Don't know that the reason for noncompliance is (maybe the leaking), but the amount it stated that it pumped jived with the range I had left and what I had used already. It pumped 17.4 gallons and I had 26-27 miles range left (about right for 1 gallon). I had already gone 414 miles.
