After two weeks of driving, washing and enjoying my new 535, I just realized that there is still some adhesive residue left on the driver's side door jam where the transport protection once lived.

What is the best way to remove this without damaging the paint or clear coat?

I have in my shop... Goo Gone, Goof Off, 3M Adhesive Remover spray, 80 grit sand paper?

TIA

TAKE IT TO THE DEALER!!!! It's THEIR problem, not yours!! Good Luck with it!

I would let the dealer do it. If they cause damage it's their responibility to fix it................... definitely don't use sand paper ( )

My Ride: I have an 05 545i. It's a manual with a few options. This is my first BMW but I don't know how I'll ever be able to switch to something else.

If you decide to do it yourself I would recommend a paper towl and some of that 3M adhesive remover.

Make sure to clean up the spot after with a QD of some type to get any residue off and leave a little protection behind.

I would take it to the dealer, but the dealer is 5-6 hours away. They trucked it to the house. And my local dealer probably wouldn't "fix it" as I didn't buy the car from them.

I was given some Wurth Adhesive Remover by my local indi mech that did the NY insepction this morning. He said it was very mild. I'll dab it on with a MF towel tonight and spray wax it.

Should be fine. Thanks for the input!

You ought to name the dealer!

Everyone should know the name of a BMW dealer who would deliver a new car with that crap not removed.

I would shag their ass to where ever you are to finish their job!

In their defense, it was not the whole tape that wasn't removed, it was a faint outline of adhesive where the tape once was. I didn't even notice it for a week, until the car had a little dust on it that stuck to the adhesive.

They were very good about getting the car from port and turning it around to my house a couple days early so I could play for the weekend.
