just as the title states...tell me about it! I want (ok, need ) to get a foaming set-up but i have absolutely NO idea where to start nor what i should get, what to look for, etc.

what do you have?
how do you like it?
would you recommend your setup to others, if not - what WOULD you recommend?
any particular place i (or others) should look at when acquiring this?
what other gear do i need (just for the foam)?
is there a specific product you would suggest or recommend i stay away from?

any other random thoughts you have are also appreciated!

The idea of foaming your car is to get as much as dirts off your car before you start touching it (Washing), although it is not a "must" but i found it did loosing the suface dirts for easier cleaning afterwards. Two buckets washing method is another key to provide you a swirls-free car as long as possible.

Okey, here's what you will need for foaming:
Decent pressure washer (Karcher makes good PW)
Foam cannon (Make sure it will fit the pressure washer)
Snow foam (For car use, not those disco fog )
Car wash shampoo (Not a must but preferable)

It's not cheap to get the whole kit, alternatively, you can get the foam gun from phil @detailerdomain for $60

It doesnt require PW, just use your hose. But the downside is the foams will not stay as long as the foam produced from the PW with foam cannon.

I have a pressure washer, but im not above getting a new one if needed(as long as i dont have to go heated - ive seen 'base' model heated washers for between $2000 and $4000 )... i simply dont know anything about the cannon part (ya ya, i know - sounds like a personal problem )

I have heard tell of people using CG product as opposed to a specialized snow foam, but if the foam is a better alternative ill certainly go that route.

Since i already have a pressure washer i would prefer to get a 'quality' foam cannon (even if, as i said, it necessitates getting a new PW) that will let me get longer dwell times (and hence be more effective) as opposed to the hose option (which i can see being quite useful if i were going to drive to visit a friend and wanted portability)

OK , I got my sick sense of humour out of the way earlier ............. I got the one sold by Autogeek.net and while it is fun to use I honestly question it's effectiveness unless you are cleaning a very very dirty car. I also purchased a fire nossel which provides high pressure water to the car in areas that really need a little extra power, and I think it's a more effective way for pre cleaning the tough stuff off . I'm a geek about the appearance of my car and while I have, and use ,the foam cannon I do think it's a bit of a Wank !!...........not that I like that sort of thing Cheers !!

the one for the hose from detailers domain (im assuming with a quality - CG perhaps? - shampoo) sounds good, and ill probably be getting one as a stop gap shortly.... but how about something with a little more 'oomph' since
