Does anyone else have rust on the hub part of the rotors? Not only do I have rust there but also on the little aluminum cover on the brake caliper. I'm looking at everything now before my new wheels are shipped.

Thanks Rick....

I have the same problem. I mentioned it to the dealer, but they just said thats the way it is, and happens to them all.
Thats one thing I'm really disapointed with.

Rick, go to PepBoys or wherever and buy some Dupli-Color spray paint, for Calipers. They make a silver/gray color that matches the OEM rotors/hubs perfectly. I sanded off the rust of my old ones (my former xi) and sprayed them, not even being that careful. It doesn't matter if you get some on the rotors.

That rusty part you see is actually part of the rotor itself. The ENTIRE rotor comes painted in that same color, new from the factory. So, if you get some on the rotors, no big deal...the brakes will take it off when you drive. You can still see a bit of overspray on the rotors in these pics.

I even sprayed the calipers and the dust cover behind the rotors. It all turned out AWESOME, as you can see.

Any kind of "fine-grit" sandpaper for metal or even wood. It doesn't really matter....as long as it's not that coarse stuff that will take chunks out of the metal and leave marks. Good luck!

In order to have a good quality pain job done to the calipers, should the calipers be swung up and away from the rotor in order to have a good access to all surfaces of the calipers? Or you just take the wheels out, put some painter's tapes, and "machine gun" it?

Check Rick's DIY on this job....There are some areas to mask off, but you don't have to remove the calipers.

Once cleaned up, to avoid any new rust reapppearing, just move to Colorado...
