Hey guys,

I'm stumped on what to buy. I'm getting tired of being that guy and borrowing my neighbors orbital every time I want to detail my car. I'm wondering which orbital is better. Anyone have any input? I know the GG orbital is relatively safe so I'm leaning that way. I'm in no way a detailing expert. Does anyone have this portercable 7424? If so what are your experiences? Is it too much for a beginner? I'm not looking to destroy my car. I would like to give Phil the business though

It's hard to imagine any safer polishing machine than 7424. I bet it's a great machine, but you could go straight to Flex XC 3401 VRG orbital polisher. I think it costs about 250-270$ over there. It's safe machine too, but much stronger than portercable 7424. While you develop in polishing, Flex can push you much longer than portercable. I have to admit, I have never used the 7424 though, but I've read lots of comparisons.

I would advise on getting a new PC7424 XP its a great replacement over the PC 7424

We have a bunch of kits.

My Ride: I have an 05 545i. It's a manual with a few options. This is my first BMW but I don't know how I'll ever be able to switch to something else.

If i'm not mistaken, the GG is simply a rebranded 7424 with a handle on top.

If your going to dive into the PC market now, i agree with Phil, go for the XP version. Its the same as before, just a higher amp motor in it. Either one is very user friendly and hard to mar your paint with, unless you just go at it with nothing on the pad.

Some nice kits there phil. I've been thinking of investing, I've done pretty well just using my hands, but that sh*t is tiring
