Hi guys and girls.
I had this white Porsche 911 Carrera -99 to get polished over the weekend. The car was equipped with GT3 aero kit.
Scratches/surface:
Every piece of dirt shows on the white paint, and there was lots of tiny brown spots on the horizontal panels. I'm not sure what it was, but I can say there was trillion of them haha!
White color doesn't really hide the swirls and scratches, and they are very visible in sunlight and under street lighting at night time. This car had the usual light swirls and some short, deeper scratches as well. And there was lots of tiny holes on paint too. Not sure how they were arised. Acid rain?
There wasn't clearcoat on this car, except on the front wings. The paint was very easy to polish actually.
Pads and compounds:
Finding the most suitable combination was very easy this time. It was FLEX XC 3401 VRG + Lake Country orange light cutting pad + Menzerna PO203S. On the front wings I had to change to a rotary (because of harder surface) and then followed it with the orbital, but otherwise I managed to do the car in 1-step. I've said it before and I say it again; LC CCS orange pad + Menzerna PO203S work great together and they leave a very nice finish when carefully breaking down the polish.
The only problem was the relatively large pads and backplates that I have. This car has some serious curves here and there and reaching them was a bit challenging .
Waxing and finishing:
The car is going to a garage over the winter, so the FK1000P was a good choice for protecting it. The FK1000P is pretty compassionate to other sealants and carnaubas, and I think it will work great if the owner wants to get in the garage and wipe some more shine on to it during the winter.
Final words:
The polishing job was pretty easy to do this time, and it took approximately 13 hours with few longer breaks (including washing and other things). Really enjoyable and relaxing after the RS4 nightmare I had last weekend.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

3) Claying
- Sonüs Ultra Fine Detaling Clay
- Bilt-Hamber Autofoam as lubricant
4) Polishing
- Menzerna PO203S + Lake Country CCS orange light cutting pad + Flex XC 3401 VRG
- FLEX PE14-2 on front wings
5) LSP
- Finish Kare 1000P
6) Muut
Tyres:
- Meguiar's Gold Class Endurance Tyre Gel

Pictures
Some of the pics are yellowish because of the tricky white balance automatic of my camera.
Before pics and the wash
The weather was great when I was starting the job.
The car was "polished" at some point, as you can see.
Swirls, swirls, swirls!
Foaming.

Here are couple of those brown spots that were everywhere.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Polishing
Average reading.
The hood... bonnet... trunk lid... whatever it is called in a Porsche.
Right side front wing.
50/50.
Left side front wing.
Still the same front wing.

tiny holes in the paint huh?
was the car re painted, it could be for the fact the paint never fully dried before clearcoating. With this in mind, the reducer will force its way out leaving tiny holes from the reducer needing to evaporate.. this is if the car was repainted of course.
Porsche looks beautiful. looked nice before your stunning detail job as well!
what did you use to get those spiderweb scratches out, perhaps a buffer and an orbital polisher of some kind?

The car wasn't repainted.
The spider web scratches (swirls) were removed with an orbital polisher, Lake Country CCS orange pad and Menzerna PO203S. Some areas were polished with a rotary buffer.

damn you have to teach me how you do it. i have a white car now and i just polished it this past weekend and it didn't come out as well as i had hoped it would...teach me your ways!
edit: i just clayed/polished/waxed the car this past weekend. if i want to do try polishing it one more time this weekend, do i have to clay the car again? or can i just hit it with a DA polisher and polish/wax again?
