Yeah it could be the wax not letting the solvent evaporate completely but why one spot? Usually you don't wax one spot on a panel. Or maybe the area has been excessively cut and polished thinning the clear in that one spot. If you look to the top right of the picture, its hard to tell but, its either dry or orange peely. I'm not a painter but I'm an auto body tech. So don't quote me on this but I've heard of different primers being needed for aluminum. And if the hood being aluminum, was taking down to bare metal at one point during the repair and the wrong primer being used it might have caused this.

I used to have an old Ford Probe that did this on the door. Luckily there was a recall on it. Basically, it wasn't prepped, primed properly from the mfg. The fix was for them to redo the door.

My thought on that one spot was perhaps a small repair was made, maybe some filler then could have just painted the area and called it quits, or maybe even cleared the entire hood. Mike are you sure you didn't wrk on that hood...? JK. ). I would love to know if the OP had it fixed afterwards and if the shop said what may have caused it. BTW, where are in Canada? I'm up in Winsor and Tubury pretty often.

Yeah Balbs, maybe some contamination during the process.

Haha nice Tony. I'd also like to know what was made of this. Curious to know what exactly happened. I'm from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Good food, very bad roads.
