My 2004 530i is starting to look dull and faded on the dash and doors. I'd like to use some type of Armorall product on it that would restore it and make it look like new, but with a matte finish (not glossy and greasy looking).

Any suggestions on something I can pick up at Wal-Mart, Advance Auto Parts, or Target?

I agree, using anything that makes the dash shiny is a no-no. Armorall makes a matt finish product but I'd suggest you try the "Back to Black" treatment - I think it's Mothers.

Does that have the black coloring in it? Says its for the exterior. If so, i'll pass.

My car isn't that bad, it just needs some kind of matte protectant so that it looks new again.

Any other suggestions?

My Ride: I have an 05 545i. It's a manual with a few options. This is my first BMW but I don't know how I'll ever be able to switch to something else.

Most any VRP protectants at like Autozone should work fine. Preferably look for some Meguiar's products, like Meg's Quik Interior Detailer. If it's too shiny, buff off the residue with a microfiber cloth and that should leave it with a nice matte finish.

303 Aerospace protectant. Has a nice matte finish.

Agreed! But 303 is kinda difficult to find OTC. Actually come to think of it, try calling up some car dealerships (not BMW spec, call like toyota or something) and they should sell it, but it will be pricier there than if you were to order it online.

But prob one of the best VRP products out there IMHO

Well, sounds like another victim of the nondetailitus

Ok, take your butt to an auto parts store and stock up on some leather and vinyl cleaners. Get all the dirt out of the surfaces - will take some time, especially, if you've never done it before. Make sure you use plenty of clean MF towels. Get yourself a couple of nice conditioners - one for vinyl, one for leather. Read the intructions on the conditioners, test them on inconspicuous areas before you apply.

There's no easy solution to dull interiors - you just have to maintain it. Dusting and vacuuming once a week, thorough clean once a month, conditioning every 3 months - simple and works (for me).

Also, search for "detailer's domain" - I got a LOT of good info from there (thanks Antti).

+1 on 303. My neighborhood Ace Hardware has it on the shelves - easy to find.

It's a white cream ... no black dye. Exterior means increased resistance to moisture and UV ... something your dash might benefit from. It's easy to find in most auto or discount stores. There are any number of exotic products out there ... feel free to stock up. You'll enjoy experimenting over time and yes - Detailer's Domain has some handy stuff you will have to try, too!
