newbie question ?

I picked up my car last week (2006) and am getting conflicting reports on when to apply the first coat of wax/polish.

After all the research I have done, I believe I am a Zaino kind of guy.

I read somewhere, not to polish a new vehicle for a period of time.

Is this true?

Can someone help me out.

I asked the same question when I got my car.

Consensus was:
-no problem to wax
-polish is not necessary unless you think the car has some surface contaminants (then you can clay & polish before waxing)

I think Stream can give some good input here.

From my understanding it depends on the polish & whether it has any abrasives.
If it has abrasives then polish twice per year.
Non abrasive waxes can be used every month if desired & keep the surface protected.

Thanks, I believe I am going to use Zaino. I know it does not have any abrasives in this product.

Thanks for the info.

I say Zaino away ....

I plan to Zaino my new car right away (including claying to remove transit grime and dirt).

Here's what Sal Zaino has to say ...

You can wax your car as soon as you receive it--modern paints don't require waiting like in the old days.
