Merv,
Had the chrome pipes on my e46 and used a metal polish to keep them clean and gleamimg. The one I use is called Peek and avialable in DIY and general hardware stores.

Not sure if these products are available in the UK, but I've used the following on my cars for several years with great results.
To polish the tips, I use P21S Multi-Surface Finish Restorer Polish. Since your tips are pretty dirty, you probably need 2 applications:

Once nice and clean, I use Rejex, which minimizes yellowing and soot buildup, and makes cleaning much easier. It is great on high heat applications (also wheels) since it was developed for use on military helicopters:

Anyone notice their chrome tailpipes starting to yellow. I've only done 1,600 miles and wonder how it will look later on?

[/quote]I noticed a US Dealer in Florida also stocking the Mequiars product range. Seemed to be more interior oriented than exterior products, but was not paying a whole lot of attention as I already have my favorites in hand.
