Just bought an 05 523 M sport, and have been giving it a good old clean (cue rainstorms here in North England), the exhaust tailpipes are discoloured and almost black.

Is there any way to get them back to chrome, and are the twin types standard on petrol models as I quite like the single wide type.

Not sure about the cleaning bit - someone else on the forum is bound to know though.

The twin tail pipes are, if I recall correctly, standard on ALL cars, with the exception of the 520d. Earlier diesels had twin pipes that curved downwards (towards the street), but this changed sometime in 2005 production (when the newer diesels engines came in).

I cleaned mine today, used some Meguiar chrome cleaner and it came up a treat.
