Have to wax to protect paint from bird poop. Just a few hours contact etches the unprotected paint finish. Helps in front for bugs. Don't believe in clear bra.

It's not that I believe in the "clear bra"---well, like someone believes in Santa Clause----but the product does work and unless I point it out to you, you won't see the product outlines.

It's easy to care for and has already protected my paint/bumper from at least 5 chips/scratches.

I see someone voted for "e60 finishes don't need to be waxed".

I was wondering what this conclusion is based on?

All new cars have clear coats which are just clear paint that will (not can) definitely be marred by just about everything. A good wax puts a small layer of material between the environment and your clear coat so that when birds/smog/uv/water spots, etc. do their thing it reduces the possible damage to your clear coat, therefore extending the life of the clear coat. Many a car has had to have the clear done over (after sanding) because of the inattention to caring for it. It's not cheap.

22 waxers out of 600. Either not too many members make it by the detailing forum or used E60 buyers beware. It only takes a second to vote!

Much cheaper than a therapist...j/k.

Keeps me out of trouble and my wife enjoys driving a clean, shiny ride as well!
I have decided that to maintain peace and good order at home, I have to wash my wife's Saturn (she will eventually give in and get a better car) when I wash mine. Just to avoid the implication that just because her car is crappy, it's crappy.

Believe me, the Saturn somehow doesn't get quite the same treatment.

It is right up there with cutting the grass.
Hey JDN, wanna start mowing my lawn? I'd be quite satisfied having a beer on my deck watching you I'll let you borrow jtxc's mower.

I think I'll be needing some therapy in the next week or so. I'll post pics. (of the car of course, not me)

Hmm. That positive feedback comes from smelling and looking at my own freshly groomed yard, realty. Get me a 42" blade under that smart car that ice posted in the Lounge and I might reconsider.
