Looked through the detailing section, but saw nothing on this. I've noticed that the chrome exhaust tips on my car seem to be quite dirty with what I assume is a residue from the exhaust. Kind of like a black soot, tried wheel cleaner and brush, but didn't work. Any suggestions on how to clean them? Thanks in advance for the help.

I always use a special chrome polish. Works great and leaves a nice protective layer on the exhaust wich makes cleaning it easier then before.. They shine really good after using the polish too..

I use turtlewax chrome polish for it.

I use Gel-gloss from Home Depot. Very gentle and leaves a smooth finish and protective coating. After that I wipe them each time I qd so that nothing builds up.

i've heard toothpaste is very good for polishing silver but not sure about chrome. before you buy anything else, give it a try first. i think it'll be the cheapest and easiest...if it works .

And look Ma! No cavaties!

Thanks Alohalc, I had heard of the toothpaste/silver also, but never thought to try it on the chrome. Worth a shot just for lost cost alone, though I'll use my wife's toothbrush, not mine!

So now, before you tuck yourself in at night, be sure and brush your exhaust tips.

The Doc says twice a day keeps the cavaties away!

make sure don't kiss her after ! btw, i think you just need to use a small piece of cloth, no need toothbrush. brush could possibly leave some swirl marks on. now go get one of her panties !
