Hello DetailingWorld and Happy New Year to everyone!
Long time since last paint correction job, but now I did this BMW E39 525i which belongs to a friend of mine
.
The colour is black, but I forgot to ask him which black it is (saphire, carbon, etc.?). Maybe someone who can recognize it could share it with us. I don't remember the model year, but I guess it's a facelifted E39 anyway...?
Imperfections/surface:
Black is black, which shows imperfections very easily. At a first glimpse it didn't look that bad, but later, when the slightest swirls were removed, lots of deep scratches came visible. I guess they were originated from an automatic car wash (brush) and from snowbrush. Some etching here and there probably from bird droppings, sap etc.
Pads and compounds:
FLEX PE14-2 + Lake Country CCS yellow cutting pad + Menzerna PO203S was the combination for this hard clear coat. Most areas were polished twice with this combo, but still some scratches remained. The second stage was done with FLEX XC 3401 VRG + Lake Country CCS white polishing pad + Britemax Black Max combination. That finished the gloss very well.
Finishing:
A coat of Finish Kare 1000P was put on the paint.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The process:
1) Pre-wash
- Turtle Wax Super detergent wash spray
- Bilt-Hamber Autofoam
2) Wash
- Bilt-Hamber Autofoam
- 2BM + microfiber mitt
- AutoGlym Intensive Tar Remover
- Wolf's Chemicals Deironizer Decon Gel
3) Claying
- Sonüs Ultra Fine Detaling Clay
- Bilt-Hamber Autofoam as lubrincant
4) Polishing
- FLEX PE14-2 + Lake Country CCS yellow cutting pad + Menzerna PO203S
- Flex XC 3401 VRG + Lake Country CCS white polishing pad + Britemax Black Max
5) LSP
- Finish Kare 1000P
6) Others
Tyres:
- Meguiar's Gold Class Endurance Tyre Gel
Wheels:
- Zaino Clear Seal
Windows:
- Maston GT Window wash spray
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I took very few pics only, unfortunately.
