Hello.
This weekend I polished this low Audi A4 Avant 1.8T 2003 which belongs to a friend of mine. I had to wash it outside because I wasn't able to get it into a wash hall haha!
Surface/scratches:
The clearcoat was very scratchy and swirly. I managed to correct it maybe 95%. Again, the clearcoat of Audi was very hard, and I had to struggle here and there.
Pads and compounds:
Like mentioned, the clearcoat was hard and I used Menzerna PO203S + Scholl Concepts Lambs Wool Fast Cutting Pad + FLEX PE14-2 combination for the first pass. I used Lake Country CCS Yellow Cutting pad too on some areas.
The second round was done with Britemax #4 Black Max + LC CCS White polishing pad + FLEX XC 3401 VRG. Black Max is very nice finishing polish as it can be run forever and then just wipe off the residues. It also leaves the surface super slick and works as a base for the LSP.
LSP:
Finish Kare 1000P works great on Black Max and gives a long time durability too. So that's what I used.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Process:
1) Pre-wash
- Polaric Nox-Wax
- Bilt-Hamber Autofoam applied from a spray bottle by hand
2) Wash
- Turtle Wax Big Orange
- 2BM + microfiber mitt
- AutoGlym Intensive Tar Remover
- Wolf's Chemicals Deironizer Decon Gel
3) Claying
- Sonüs Ultra Fine Detailing Clay
- Meguiar's NXT Car Wash + water as lubricant
4) Polishing
- FLEX PE14-2 + Scholl Concepts Lambs Wool Fast Cutting pad / Lake Country CCS Yellow Cutting pad + Menzerna PO203S
- FLEX XC 3401 VRG + Lake Country CCS White Polishing pad + Britemax #4 Black Max
5) LSP
- Finish Kare 1000P
6) Others
Tyres:
- Meguiar's Gold Class Endurance Tyre Gel
Windows:
- Maston GT Ikkunapesuspray
Exhaust tips:
- Turtle Wax Silver Chrome
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Before anything and wash

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Scratches and polishing
The average thickness of the paint + clearcoat was a bit thinner than usually.

Left side.

Right side before.

Right side after the first round (rotary).

Scratches on the roof.

After the rotary.

Trunk lid before.

Trunk lid after the rotary.

B pillar trim before.

And after the rotary polisher.

This is the left rear pillar.

After the rotary.

Right side B pillar trim.

General pics taken after the first pass (rotary).

The next pics are taken after the orbital polisher + Black Max which added some gloss. Of course it can't be noticed from the pictures easily, but Black Max made the surface looking glassy.

Then, as a last job before waxing, I sweated a little with the exhaust tips. Before.

After.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
LSP put and all done
When it was done it was ready to be taken out to the springy snowfall
.

The Audi was still on winter tyres. If I understood it right, some 2 or 3 piece summer wheels were awaiting.

Thank you for looking!

I need someone here in the states to do that to my 08 Carbonschwartz metallic 550i. Great job, too bad it was snowing out when he picked it up. Is that a full days work or 4-5 hours or what?

It us usually 12-20 hours for me, depending on the condition of the paint/clearcoat.
