i have a quick question. what do you use to clean the roof of a Z4 convertible? i got a friend who wants a car wash, but i'm afraid to put my soap to her roof and take off any sealant or special coating it may have.
If you want to be fancy, you could order something like Amazing Roll-Off. It was originally designed for cleaning the sails on sailboats and can be used for convertible fabric roofs.

What would I do? I would wash it normally, just like any other panel. Then, when that's finished, I would follow up with several coats of Raggtop Fabric Protectant. Follow the instructions on the bottle for application.

We will all need the E60.net 75% discount!

The guys I go to do ext. int. and engine shamp. for $200 cash! If you can match that I'm down to do some business..
If you can find someone that will do a comparable job for less money then by all means, give him your business. For what it's worth, if the work from your guys was as good as what I do, I'd probably be out of business.

What kind of product should I use for getting rid of water spots/acid rain etching? I have a PC RO polisher, and Lake Country CCS pads that I picked up from Chemical Guys (orange, green, black, and white).

I know I need an abrasive, but I'm not sure which one to use.

I always recommend using the Least Invasive Method. The least aggressive method for this application would be to add vinegar to your wash solution. The acidic properties of vinegar will gently remove light water spotting. If that is unable to remove them, the next step would be a polishing/finishing pad and a finishing polish such as Menzerna Final Polish. Again, if that does not remove it, step it up a notch to a cutting pad and a medium abrasive such as Menzerna IP. I recommend doing a test correction to see which pad/polish combination will be ideal.

I have swirl marks on my hood and some light scratches on the side. I have used Menzerna IP with orange pad on Porta Cable 7724. It seems to come out better, but does not really get rid of the swirl marks. If I used a circular polisher, would that help get better results?

Thanks for the reply. I just started using a power washer, so I'm not sure how possible that will be, but I may be able to figure something out.
