any good stuff for cleaning 172s

My Ride: 2006 520D M Sport
as title says i need something which wont take the lacquer off the wheels and keep them shining, i have heard about wheel wax, any good brand of wax available here in the UK ?? plus whats the start to finish using the wax.

I find that just plain water does just fine for regular break dust. Then I use a clay bar to get some of the tar off. I usually don't use wheel wax but the application is pretty simple....just put a thin layer of wax on the wheels and wipe off.

I use AutoGlym Clean Wheels and Alloy Wheel Seal at present but this is next on my list to try : Bilberry Wheel Cleaner seen nothing but good reviews.

Macadee, do autoglym and this bilberry contain any acids ? i have heard lots of stories how wheel cleaners clean so much of wheels that after a while the paint starts to come off. so thats why i am after something which doesnt contain any acids.

Best stuff in my opinion is: P21S Wheel Gel. It's German, it's designed exactly for our clear coated wheels and contains no acid at all. Not the cheapest stuff, but won't harm any wheel and it cleans well.
Having said that, if you seal the wheels after they are clean (every 3 months) with a good wheel sealant (I use Poor Boys) you really don't need a wheel cleaner if you are cleaning them every week. Just a bucket, shampoo and sponge. Only use the wheel cleaner if you don't clean them often. Any wheel cleaner will strip the sealant off. In fact with the wheel sealant on, 70% of dirt will be removed with just a high pressure hose. So best process is:
1. Remove wheels and clean wheels with P21S inside and out.
2. Polish
3. Apply wheel sealant (more coats the better)
4. Every week wash with bucket and sponge
5. Every three months do it all again.
