Since getting my 530i MSport last Dec, I have only washed it once using a jet wash at the petrol station. I dont like using the auto car wash or the jet wash so am looking to find out whats the best for car wash, alloy wash, leather care, dash care, wax and polish etc etc for the car. Now... some guys I know with 5ers are saying the best thing to use to wash the exterior inc alloys is washing up liquid i.e. fairy liquid etc, and that it works a treat!! Sounds like a stupid question but just want to know if this works and if anyone else has tried that? What do you recommend??

Please don't use Fairy Liquid, it is a detergent and will strip the paint of all wax!!

Use a proper car shampoo, Auto Glym etc.....

Regards.

That's just what you need to do if you're going to apply Rejex...

Any good auto shampoo, Autoglym, Car-lack (Klasse), Meguires will do.

Things like Fairy Liquid contain salt, which is what you are trying to wash off !

(Says he, who uses water from a domestic water softener, which up's the sodium content )

Try Dove shower cream... it contains 1/4 moisturiser which is very good for your E60's paint.

General consensus seems to be, it's ok to use fairy or similar to get rid of all the muck inc from the alloys, then to wax it up nice. After that, use a good enough car wash product to maintain the result of the waxing till the next time you want to 'strip' it all off...

Sure enough, there's good advice on this forum on products to use etc but just wanted to find out about using dish washing liquid like fairy to wash the exterior.
