Just got done pressure washing the car and noticed some "dirt" was not coming off...It's not dirt -there are rust spots all over the place. I noticed a few of these a few weeks ago and thought it was a little strange. Got rid of them with clay then waxed the car. All of these have shown up in the last 2 weeks. I know a few of these are normal. I owned a white x5 for a few years and was used to removing these with clay. But this is insane!!!!
What could be causing this??? Is this a paint flaw or something else?
Overall I am very disappointed with this car. Other issues include Active Cruise turning off randomly, rough idle, rattling windshield, rough running for the first 10 or so minutes after starting, inconsistent accelerator pedal.

Trying to post pics but having some trouble. When I click on the "add this attachment button" all I get is a blank web page. I will keep trying. Any help would be appreciated.

I would not sugguest using a power washer on your car. The excessive water pressure will take the wax off much faster and is not good with for the car. Are the rust spots all over or just in certain areas?

Rust spots aren't normal -- that's for sure...
Do you live in an area where there is a higher than normal amount of particulates in the air, like near any factories, etc.?

Spots are worst behind each wheel then taper off down the side. Also all over the rear bumper and vertical surfaces of rear end. Live in a small town no pollution. Salt on the roads but they have been doing that forever and have never had a problem before.
Wish i could get the darn pics to post. It's unbelievable!!!

Surely something you picked up along the road! Theres no way you can get rust on plastic bumpers, is there? How about a close up pic?

In regards to the idle problems etc. I believe these have been addressed by the latest software... Definitely dealer-time but why oh why do BMW get it so wrong!?!?!?

What the hell......almost looks like specs of paint......use a clay paint remover and see if any of it comes off. Good luck
