I tried setting up a group buy, but that's the lowest they can go already. Any BMW dealership or tire shop that does warranties will honor the replacement.

My SA said as long as it's one tire, they will usually authorize the claim over the phone. Otherwise if you're making a claim for 2 or more tires, they will send out an inspector checking for at least 4mm of tread left. They won't cover an already worn tire.

Just curious ..Has anyone compared this with Costco Road Hazard warranty (with no extra cost if you buy tires from them)?

I've got a wheel/tire warranty from a company named InTire. So far so not good. When it comes to tires they only cover certain damage (e.g. nails) but do not cover any sidewall damage. Wheels are fixed/replaced only if they've been damaged so badly that tires do not hold air. Even severely bent wheels are not covered. It seems to be that buying a set of take-off wheels/tires and use them as replacements makes more sense.

Costco will not cover aftermarket wheels and low-profile tires. This policy will cover any type of damage to the tire and wheel as long as the tread is not under 4mm.

I was offered Tire & Wheel Protection when I purchased my 550i at Perillo BMW in Chicago for $699 on Dec 27. I declined at the time, but after reading info on this forum, I am reconsidering. The Finance Manager told me it was too late to include it in my financing, but that I could purchase the protection separately. She also said that it covered aftermarket tires & wheels. I had her fax me a copy so I could read the fine print.

The protection plan is from MAG (Maximus Auto Group) from Bradenton, FL (866-203-2492). They offer a 3 year & 5 year term. Not sure how many years the $699 covered.

The details from the contract:
- The warranty is between you and Maximus Auto Group. (Not the dealership, so I am not sure if you contact MAG directly.)
- MAG guarantees to repair flat tires or fully replace unrepairable tires and wheels when the wheeel is damaged so that it is no longer able to seal with the tire due to a covered road hazard. (not sure what covered means)
- Eligible tires - your vehicles original tires and/or replacement tires that have minimum remaining tread depth of 2/32 of an inch and are free of any manufacturer defects.
- Onwer responsibilities - maintain proper air pressure. Keep your tires inflated to the vehicle manufacturers recommended air pressure. Tires should be checked weekly for proper inflation and monthly for dry rot and for tread depth less than 2/32 of an inch. Tires with those conditions must be replaced. Replaced tires are covered for the time remaining on this guarantee.

The legalease:
- By your signature below, you acknowledge and agree that your acceptance of this tire and wheel road hazard product is voluntary and and is NOT a condition precedent to, or a consideration required to obtain financing for a motor vehicle.
- It is understood by the undersigned that coverage afforded under this contract applies only to any tire or wheel that is on the above described vehicle, and that the terms, conditions, procedures and limitations have been explained to me and are fully understood. Fraudulent Claims will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I am tempted to call and learn more.
