They didn't.

It's just in BMW NA's heads.

The real modelyear change over is ALLWAYS September.

Just speculation, but possibly a price increase and adding a few of the missing features such as the Ipod hookup and TPM sensors.

makes sense. for the M3, BMW released a 2003.5 that included LED taillights and DVD based NAV. i guess they could have just called it a 2004 at the time but chose not to for some reason

thanks.

They released 07 early because of US/California emissions standards issues.

Referred to as CARB.

It was the 11th commandment but the last 5 broke off in the movie History of the World Part 1

The factory closes in August, every year. They do some maintenance and prepare for the new MY, the changes.
This is EVERY year the same.
Minor things might be changed/introduced somwhen else. But the "BMW-Year" begins in September when the factory gets back to normal production. Therefore, MY change is allways September.
BMW NA is doing this very often for strange marketing BS reasons. But in fact, it is no "real" MY change.

Quick Reply: what was the main reason the 2007 models came out so early?
