Does anyone know what the 530i and 545i are going for here in socal? I'll be purchasing one in the next 2 weeks and would like to have an idea of what people are getting them for before I go in and start negotiating. Are there any current deals going on? Also when will the 550i come out? TIA

Great question SoCal Dodger as I'm curious too. I'm about 3 weeks away from 545i order ( waiting on final tax figures), and have found on preliminary stabs without serious negotiation $2865 over invoice thru cars direct (not their concierge service). My sense is that here in San Diego, it may be more difficult to get the same deal as I could if I was willing to drive to LA. I am planning on using RIZZO method (which I used with success last year in buying a MDX for my wife)and hope to end up at 1000-1500 over invoice. Thoughts?

Carsdirect.com gets fleet pricing for cars and the fleet pricing is always better in LA than San Diego. You should try to get a quote from Carsdirect.com using an LA area zip code -- also, the zip codes in Irvine, CA sometimes have better pricing than the rest of LA (probably due to competition from Crevier).

At any rate, the fleet pricing is sort of the "worst case" pricing you should be able to get on any car. Individual dealers will offer pricing better than fleet for inventory (i.e., specific cars on their lot) that have not moved for some time (usually over 30 days) since the dealer is carrying a daily interest charge on loans secured by the inventory. It is unlikely that you will get better than fleet pricing on a car that you will order (i.e., not in inventory, but to be built by BMW in Germany and shipped over a few months from now), although if the car you want is in someone's inventory in the US, the dealer may be able to arrange a swap for that car at no cost (or a nominal freight cost).

The RIZZO method basically permits each dealer to make you an offer based on their specific inventory and cost considerations as explained above.

Talking

If you can go to Carsdirect.com and get 3 grand off MSRP right off the bat,one can get at least another 250 to 1 grand additional OFF!

Best I could get was 1500 over invoice, plus possible MACO (some kind of advertising fee) fee depending on dealer. The MACO may or may not be legit depending whom you talk to. It appears to vary between 250-500 and supposedly is negotiable (0 to 500).

I didn't need/use any special method really. You know you hit bottom when they let you "walk" (by email). And a lot did let me walk at around 1500. Try Alexander and Long Beach BMW. I think it might be a good idea to ask for salesmanager directly (bypassing salesperson).

Hope this helps. If anyone got a better deal than this, I would like to know too please.

BMW 550i is not out until September, AFAIK. I would definitely wait for that one.

Regards,
Can

just placed an order of 2006 530 at Nick Alexander Imports for about $1700 over invoice. The only dealership so far that didn't ask for Sticker price for the 2006 E60.

You can get a 545i from Crevier BMW in OC for $2K above invoice (maybe a little less)...ask for Kevin Hite...keep in mind the 550i will have about slightly more horsepower (360HO vs. 325HP...BUT, I doubt you will get as good a deal on an updated model (certainly, the money factor--if you are leasing--will not be as good as it is now on a 545i) and you will be getting a car in the first year of a new engine in which potential for problems is highest. I just got my 545i last week and it has plenty of HP and pickup as far as I'm concerned and I'm driving it now.
