I've just taken up the Warranty Direct. Waiting for paperwork now as I could still cancel within 14 days.

Quoted monthly payments of ?36 on my 530i SE could cancel after 6 months as its rolling, so no need to fork out for whole year.

As steve_gus has mentioned it includes wear and tear and excess for each claim is ?25 compared to ?100 on BMW warranty.

looks like i might take my own recommendation in 3 years time

I think original factory warranty is just about the only benefit we in the UK get over the USA.... the cars are comparatively more expensive here but we get 3 years unlimited, whilst USA get 2 years and 50k miles?

cheers

http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk/

these are the uks biggest warranty provider

on the basis of a 2003 525i, 60k miles, 30k a year or less, non bmw garage to do work, is ?350 a year.

Not a lot of exclusions, but 'wear and tear' applies

i suggest you compare

cheers

steve

i think you are right....

The UK warranty was one of the factors I bought another bmw - im doing 32k a year. If it was a usa warranty, I would be out of cover in approx 20 months! At least now I know ive got a full 3 years, and and extra year from warranty direct when I get to that point. Im not that confident the turbo will get me to 120k!

cheers
