I have 18'' runflats on mine at the moment, Ok as a low mileage but will probably go for standard tyres next time. But I do not have a spare as not specified when car ordered. May be of interest to Uk owners, the spacesaver wheel kit including Jack & everything is ?136+VAT from dealer. Is a lot cheaper when ordered with new car, so may be a worthwhile option to choose to give more flexibility in the future..

My 18" Bridgestone (if I correct remember brand) Run Flats were not noisy at all, and almost good bump absorption, and I had Sport suspension.

I talk at the past because now I'm driving a courtesy car (MB 220CDI) waiting new 535d.

My 17'dunlop RFT's were replaced by bridgestone tires free of charge after 2000 miles. Better handling but equally noisy. I ordered the car with ordinary tires but the dealer told me that the 17'could only have RFT's. Is not true. The problem is that so many customers insist on replacement that the poor dealers don't know what to do with all the tires. BMW continues to ship with RFT's.

I have tried to talk my dealership into new tires for exactly this reason. No luck yet.

I wish they would. I was on a road trip for Thanksgiving and turned 7000 miles on my Dunlop 18" RF's. They absolutely roar now, even on smooth pavement. I can say with 100% certainty that I will put on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires when I either can't stand the noise or the tread wears down on the Dun(s)lops.

I have the 18" Dunlop run flats and I cannot stand the noise. I started noticed the loud roar after about 8000 miles. I will not be putting them back on in the spring once I no longer need my winter tires.

I have the same problem on my "04 545 with sports package. I have been talking to the dealership along with another friend that bought the same car but with no avail. I have posted this problem on some other boards as well. It is time we all grouped together to pressure BMW into making the right decision!!
