Oooookay, on my last E60 in two years of ownership I ruined 9 tires and 3 rims. They were really expensive too because they were runflats and I was thrilled that I got the tire insurance. Wasn't sure about this car though. The non runflats are normally pretty reliable and I never had a blow out in 4 years of owning my M3. I sprung for it anyway and paid about $700 for full 5 year coverage of my tires and rims. It was my only option even though it was only a 30 month lease. The policy has no maximum coverage amount, no deductible and was sold and serviced by my dealership. Anyway, after putting about 8,000 miles on my 550i, I just hit another pothole and blew out my 4th tire. So, for those of you who may be on the fence about it, I think the insurance is money well spent.

I thought it was something of value.... I got the tire insurance.
I have yet to need to use it, but, don't have many miles. I know that a couple tires or 1 rim and the policy pays for itself.
I had a 2001 540i and went up to 19's, went through 2 tires in what seemed like a blink; a nail here, a who knows what there.
I am curious to find out how it works. I was sold by the finance guy and was given nothing in writing. I asked him repeatedly if all these troubles would be fixed by BMW and replaced with OEM parts. He said "yes, yes, yes." I recently received a letter from Multi-Shield which consisted of 3 paragraphs thanking me for the business and an identification card... still nothing in writing that confirms the scope of the policy.

Depends on where you live and general road conditions but I got it on both my 550 and the wife's X5. Never used the insurance on my car but my wife's insurance has more than paid for both policies!

when I picked up my lease 12/07...the dealership told me CA was no longer allowing them to provide that option...but I heard BMW is offering it again...I ended up going with the "wear and tear" insurance...which covers up to 10K worth of damage upon lease return....

I got the insurance and within 35 days, I had to use it to replace a run-flat (left-rear). It paid for itself immediately!

I had a tire/wheel warranty on my Volvo and about a month before it expired my son ran into a major pothole and cracked two rims and blew out two tires. They paid the towing and replaced the wheels and tires. I only got stuck for the new strut and lower control arm, which my son is making monthly payments on. Tires on my other cars come from Costco which come with a road hazzard warranty.

Yeah... I got the insurance as well... I had rashed a rim on my previous 5 series and got a bubble on the side wall of the tire... I wish I had the insurance back then. So, I took it this time w/ my new 5 (which has run-flats.. ugh).
I haven't had to use the insurance yet... but who knows, esp w/ all the pot holes here in DC.
