Had two error messages last night:
1. AWD & DSC malfunction.
2. Start-off asstance inactive.
It seems that many others have had this problem and that the repair requires replacement of the SZL Module and software reprogramming. I have two questions:
1. Are the SZL Modules still on national backorder? If so, how long does it currently take to get the new SZL Module?
2. If a new SZL Module is available, how long does it take to fix the car? Can it be done in one day?
Thanks.

Seem like this SZL thing is a common problem.
The photo in your signature is linked to a private portion of AC Schnitzer (www.acschnitzer.com) and is causing a login prompt to appear on every page your signature appears on.
You probably need to change that before people think that the forum has a virus or something...
Thanks!

Apparently this repair is very simple and involves swapping out a part on the SZL module (plugged-not soldered). This eliminates need to reprogram the CID, so all user preferences are maintained. The manager told me that they got two repair kits today and should be getting quite a few tomorrow, so there is hope.
I also have a call in to BMW NA, but have not heard anything back from them or my local dealer. As I did not need a rental car, both the dealer and BMW NA said that they would credit my lease for the time the vehicle has been out of service.
