Actually, apart from State Sales Tax, are there any other taxes levied against the purchase price of a car in the US? I think cars are too expensive in some places is due entirely to heavy taxes.

Just sales tax and license and registration fee. about 10% of the car. Doesnt matter if there are other taxes or not... its what you can do out the door. Wether its local tax sales tax import tax its money out of your pocket before you can take the car home. So over all the US is still lower in price compared to other places... you cant just not count tax as part of the price. If a car is $1.99 and theres $3 million dollars in tax is it still cheap to buy a car?

Ahh, but that creates opportunities. I can just buy a car for $3m, reclaim the tax as I export the car (allowed in some jursidictions), & I get to buy a cheap car if I import it into somewhere that charges lower taxes. This happened frequently in Europe a few yrs ago.
